The grapes are coloring up

Veraison has started along the second row, and the clusters that were hard green marbles a week ago are blushing purple from the shoulders down.

We walk the rows most evenings now, mostly to look. The geese follow at a distance, pretending they are not interested in grapes.

What it means for the jelly

Once the whole block turns, we have about three weeks before picking. That means the jelly pot comes out of the pantry, the jars get washed, and the kitchen smells like late summer for days.
